November 4, 2016

Exalted: OffTopic - Luna and the Lunars: Why is Luna so bland? Why are Lunars Neglected?

October 13, 2016

Sponsored by Weiman Silver Polish

In this episode we talk in equal parts about the tumultuous lore surrounding the Lunar Exalted as we do discuss the meta circumstances that lead to them being just awful character options from their canon interpretation. Lunar exalts and Luna are one of the aspects of the Exalted setting that has needed a serious facelift for over ten years. We go into why playing one in 1E and 2E is terrible and question just what the writers were thinking.

Exalted: OffTopic - The Five Maidens and the Sidereals: How to use them?

October 6, 2016

Sponsored by Sailor Moon

In this off topic we discuss the five maidens and their exalted the Sidereals. These character types are much more difficult to integrate into standard exalted as they are weighed down by suspect design choices, a entire setting unique to them, the necessity of having employers and being part of a sprawling bureaucracy, and inter clan conflicts across several lines. We talk about previous design choices and even delve a bit into why a adversarial exalt type has been made for them in the Getimians.

Exalted: OffTopic - Is the Unconquered Sun Relevant to the Setting?

September 29, 2016

Sponsored by Old Spice Terry Crews

In this Off Topic we discuss the significance of the UCS, what he has done in the world, what he contributes, and how he is completely irrelevant to any exalted game. We talk about a trend in RPGs where players tend to unconsciously seek out an authority figure to command them and tell them what to do. We discuss the damage parts of 1st and major parts of 2nd editions flavour did to peoples perception of the setting to the point where people think they need to appeal to an adult figure to solve the worlds problems.

Sponsored by Empire’s Reign for The Ninja Crusade 2nd Ed (Relaunch)

We give our thoughts on AMP Year One in it's entirety after having some months to reflect. We had a good time with AMP and it has a lot of potential as  a rules light super hero type game. We are looking forward to seeing what AMP will look like when its five year cycle is complete. We also discuss critiques and issues we had with it.

Exalted: OffTopic - An Episode for You, Listeners

July 21, 2016

Sponsored by You, the Listener

This Off Topic the topic is: You.
We produced this episode as a response to the amazing amounts of positive feedback from the Greater Exalted community. We had suspected that Exalted fans held the same opinions of the third edition and were not only delighted to have this confirmed by an overwhelming majority but also stunned at how much traffic it directed to our little Actual Play.
In this episode we give out a personal thank you to all our fans and listeners who have contributed to this podcast and encouraged us to continue production. We also ask some fairly open ended questions about what you would like to see us in the future from Sponsored By Nobody. Feel free to respond!

Exalted: OffTopic - Why 3rd Edition Failed. Why Godbound Succeeded.

July 14, 2016
Sponsored by RPG.net

I was asked to give insight into what our thoughts on both systems were. So we did a takedown and final reflection on Ex3 and our appraisal of Godbound.

In this episode all 6 of us go over the experience we had with about 5 months of Exalted 3rd edition and the about 5 months we have had with the Godbound system. We lay everything out: what worked, what didn't, our observations and personal beliefs and what really rubbed us the wrong way. This covers everything from Mechanics, Flavour, Setting info, Art direction, Layout, Editing, Some off camera Drama from the Kickstarter and the nature of IP and how sticking to old copyright methods will damage your brand.

Major props go out to Godbound and Sine Nomine for the rock star levels of production values, ethics, consumer friendliness, communication and solid art direction. With a few critiques along the way.

If you are looking for a takedown of what Exalted 3rd is like from 6 people (1 of which had prior experience and 5 who were total newbies for both systems) then this is the Episode for you.

Exalted: OffTopic - Flame Weapons and Sorcerors

January 10, 2016

We discuss the implications of Flame weapons in Creation, the fact that they are a common tool for mystically inclined individuals and how the common person would perceive them as magical despite their mundane-ish origins. This spun off from an interesting forum discussion of the impact flame weapons have in creation.
